I’m Sophie, the designer behind Simply Sophie Designs, a marketing + design studio that exists to create one-of-a-kind branding, strategic website design, & results-driven marketing support for female-owned businesses.
Simply Sophie Designs started with me selling custom portraits from my college dorm room to roommates and sorority sisters and progressed into me quitting corporate in 2022 to pursue my dream business full time.

Since those early dorm room days, both my business and my life have grown in ways I couldn’t have imagined.
Today, I’m a wife, a mom, and the founder of a thriving Indiana-based design studio serving clients both locally and across the country. What began as a love for patterns, illustrations, and playful design has evolved into something far more strategic — building cohesive brand systems and high-converting Squarespace websites that help businesses grow with clarity and intention.

A FEW THINGS THAT SHAPED THIS STUDIO
It started with an iPad and Procreate.
What began as paper goods, custom portraits and hand-drawn illustrations shared on Instagram quickly turned into commissioned work for small businesses across the country and even internationally, with early clients in New Zealand and Australia. Illustration opened the door, but it also taught me something bigger: small brands crave originality. That creative foundation still shapes everything I design today.
I built this after hours.
For years, I worked full-time in advertising and corporate marketing — then came home and poured evenings and weekends into growing Simply Sophie Designs. It was 9–5 and then 5–9 (and often later). Those seasons built my discipline, sharpened my strategy, and gave me real-world marketing experience long before I stepped fully into entrepreneurship.
One of my first major clients?
The Indiana Peony Festival. I’ve partnered with them since their launch in 2021, helping shape the branding and digital presence of an event that now draws tens of thousands of attendees. Watching something grow year after year (and knowing my work helped support that growth) has been one of the most meaningful parts of this journey.
My work is on the shelves!
From interning at Kit Magazine (where I illustrated, assisted with styled shoots, and even wrote a fashion column) to designing the cover of Jordan Lee Dooley’s newest book—seeing my design sitting on shelves inside Barnes & Noble was a true full-circle moment.
I quit corporate in 2022.
After years of building this business on the side, I finally took the leap and went all in. That decision transformed Simply Sophie Designs from a creative side hustle into the strategic brand and website studio it is today.
The original dream?
To build a business that would one day allow me to stay home with my future kids. Now I’m a mom, living out my dream to design, lead, and grow this studio in a way that supports both my family and my clients.

CREATIVITY
My cardinal rule of marketing is that it should be FUN. Whether I’m redesigning your brand using hand-drawn illustrations, infusing whimsy into a strategic website, or whipping up a launch plan -- creativity and collaboration are key ingredients for results.
DISTINCTION
My irrational fear is a ‘copy-and-paste’ marketing strategy. In fact, I believe every business is (and should be) different, and we make it our personal goal to help you own what makes you original so you can achieve remarkable results. No matter the service, we tailor every element of support to your unique business.
AMBITION
Marketing a business isn’t for the faint of heart. Therefore, my favorite clients are the women who aren’t afraid to go all in and put some skin in the game. A few examples are those who bring passion and collaboration to the table while also trusting us to take the reigns and try new strategies that produce fresh results.
